American Jubilee: Concert Overture for Band was composed in the summer and late fall of 2006 for the South Jersey Area Wind Ensemble of Linwood, New Jersey. Keith W. Hodgson, Conductor. "American Jubilee" is a short concert overture and, with the exception of a short quote from our "National Anthem," it contains only original melodies. I have strived to reflect the hard working and strongly religious character of the people of southern New Jersey past and present. The slow middle section is relfective and represents the passing years of settlement life. A contrapuntal section follows and leads to the final triumphant theme and a lively exciting coda.
