A True Friend now available on CD!
A True Friend for Band is available from Southern Music Commission/Premier of A True Friend Commissioned in May 2000 by the Van Buren High School Band, with Mike Jones, Director, in memory of band student and trumpeter Michael Smith, a young teenager who was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Michael Smith's courage and devotion to his family and the Van Buren Band was an inspiration to all who knew him. The music reflects his bravery, his love of life, and his ascension to a better life. The piece was premiered in April 2001. Recording by Southern Music Company Wind Ensemble, Dr. Mark Rogers conducting. Published by Southern Music.
